The Proposal has all the ingredients to be a predictable movie (like so many other romantic comedies that have come our recently); however, it’s almost as if the film specifically goes out of its way to prove you wrong. I can honestly say that I found myself constantly surprised by how the story progressed. It was an absolute pleasure to watch and best of all its comedy was “top self” stuff. If only the romance could also have been measured accordingly into the film, at times it seems the “love” in the film comes off a bit unethical and flat out exaggerated. But as long as you don’t allow yourself to over think things too much, the movie keeps you laughing. I could not conclude this review without first pointing out the unexpected hidden-gem performance of “Golden Girl” Betty White. She is a comedic genius! ….watch the entire film to see for yourself what I’m referring too.

When high-powered book editor Margaret (SANDRA BULLOCK) faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec declares that she’s actually engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant Andrew (RYAN REYNOLDS), who she’s tormented for years. He agrees to participate in the charade, but with a few conditions of his own. The unlikely couple heads to Alaska to meet his quirky family and the always-in-control city girl finds herself in one comedic fish-out-of-water situation after another.
